An aged geologist, Andron Vseslavich, goes on a train journey from Moscow to Severobaikalsk. On the way, he goes through photos of his youth, remembering how in the late 70s he scouted the future route of the Baikal-Amur Mainline, which runs through the vast expanses of Siberia. It became the most expensive project in Soviet history.
